Jamaica has long been one of the most popular – and exclusive - destinations in the region with a selection of red-hot tourist spots such as Montego Bay and Ochos Rios – and, of course, the added attraction of reggae music and a vibrant local cuisine. Barbados offers a more refined culture indelibly associated with its English past and is if anything even more laid back than Jamaica (which is saying something!). In recent years, the Dominican Republic has joined more traditional Caribbean destinations as the place to go for international jetsetters – particularly those keen on more affordable luxury. St Lucia and the Windward Islands offer a different experience yet again – tourism has come relatively late to the island so there’s still a sense of it being less discovered, as well as being the site of second homes of stars like Mick Jagger.
