Overview

The region’s capital, Rethymno Town, is a sympathetic blend of ancient and modern, offering 16th Century buildings and stone-paved streets, alongside modern architecture, overlooking the Venetian Harbour. 
Of course, if you want to party ‘til dawn and spend your waking hours basking on a glorious beach then Malia should be your first port of call, or head to the bottomless lake at Agios Nikolaos, for a lively nightlife, a great selection of restaurants and a charming town.
The delightfully named village of Kissamos is typical of the places you might explore if you are taking cheap tailor made holidays to Chania. Built on the ancient site of the original city of Kissamos, the village is a relatively undiscovered gem. Primarily a wine producing village, it offers a step back in time as you sample traditional food and local wine in excellent tavernas, bars and the few, family run restaurants that exist in the medieval style streets.
Your Crete holidays might take you on a visit to Hersonisos in Heraklion. This region is very popular for cheap package holidays and Hersonisos has a growing nightlife, hosted by vibrant nightclubs. 
By day, this lively village offers shopping, restaurants, art galleries and bars, but has retained its simplicity and authenticity, despite its popularity as a tourist destination.
Beaches
Lassithi’s Sissi Beach is one of Crete’s most famous resorts. The beaches here are small, secluded and have won international recognition for cleanliness. The white sand and crystal clear waters offer the perfect situation for kicking back and relaxing.
