Jamaica
Overview
Jamaica is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. With stunning beaches, glistening waters and a laid-back culture, it has long attracted the rich and famous to its shores and has even played host to a number of royal visits.
However, thanks to the increase in relatively cheap holidays to the island, Jamaica is fast-becoming an attainable destination for holiday-makers from all walks of life; cheap tailor-made holidays and family holidays are serving as introductions to this acclaimed slice of paradise.
Montego bay is arguably the most famous part of the island. Tailor made holidays might see you staying in some of the luxury villas that line the hills and provide spectacular views of the ocean. More modestly priced Jamaica holidays will still allow you to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Montego town, packed with stalls and hustlers as well as lively, but relaxed, bars and restaurants. For a more relaxed pace (even by Jamaican terms) head to Runaway Bay for seafood, the ubiquitous beaches and the Green Grotto Caves.
By night, Jamaica becomes a place of fun and colourful celebration, but always with something delightfully unexpected to experience.
Couples taking romantic Jamaica holidays might like to go to Negril to try and see the green flash that appears in the sky when the sun sets on a cloudless night: local legend says that couples that see the ‘rara avis’ are guaranteed true love.
Water-sports and diving are a feature of most Jamaican beaches. Scuba-divers come from all over the world to explore the stunning coral reefs and interact with a vibrant, underwater world of parrotfish, stingrays, turtles and seahorses.
Dolphin Cove allows you the chance to swim with friendly dolphins and there is a nearby jungle-trail, where you can take in some of Jamaica’s exotic and diverse flora and fauna. However, if your Jamaica holidays are intended to be less strenuous, you can watch all the activities from beneath the shade of one of the many mango trees that line the coast.
Whatever your reasons for taking Jamaica holidays, you are sure to be spellbound by the island’s natural beauty and the effervescent welcome of its people.
