Located Southwest of Spain the Canary Islands is a fantastic holiday destination all year round due to the great climate even in the winter months. Each island offers its own charm with a great mix of lively nightlife, family activities and laid back traditional resorts. The most popular islands for UK holiday makers are Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands with terrific year round weather and plenty to do. Head South to Playa de las Americas to enjoy the nonstop nightlife. Costa Adeje just along the coast is a more upmarket resort, with its low key atmosphere you'll find a great choice of 5* hotels and some excellent waterfront restaurants. Los Cristianos once a small fishing village is now one of the islands most popular resorts, ideal for families, there's a great selections of bars and restaurants and daily boat excursions from the harbour. In the North you'll find Puerto de la Cruz the oldest resort on the island. Tenerife has many resorts with something to offer everyone from Glass bottom boat trips and Aqua Parks to cable car rides up to volcano El Tiede, Nature parks and wine tasting trips.
Lanzarote with its broad expanses of sandy beaches and coves set amidst dramatic volcanic landscape offers a variety of activities to keep the whole family entertained. Enjoy the fabulous range of watersports activities, visits to the National Park and strolls along the beach. For lively nightlife visit Puerto del Carmen. Costa Teguise is an excellent modern family resort with a great beach, a good selection of bars and restaurants and the islands only golf course. Playa Blanca and Playa de los Pocillos are quieter resorts with great beaches and a relaxed atmosphere.
Gran Canaria is the ultimate sun–fun island with great all year round temperatures. You can count yourself extremely unlucky if you encounter any rainfall at all! It is famous for its magnificent beaches that ring the island and the amazing sand dunes, particularly around Maspalomas. Gran Canaria also has much more to offer with its lively resorts of Puerto Rico and Playa del Ingles, together with its cosmopolitan capital, Las Palmas. It also features lesser known gems such as the Venetian style canals of Puerto Mogan and the more upmarket Meloneras with its chic designer boutiques and high class restaurants.
Fuerteventura is the 2nd largest of the Canaries and is an ideal island for beach and watersports lovers. Corralejo has excellent beaches with the Atlantic waves making it great for windsurfing and surfing all year round and some superb instructors on hand to give you all the tuition you need. The main square offers a good mix of evening entertainment many with live music. Costa Caleta is a quieter resort made up of whitewashed low rise accommodation offering a low key family friendly atmosphere.
