Resorts and Beaches

Once a sleepy fishing village, Benidorm is the largest resort full of skyscrapers and is one of the main attractions on The Costa Blanca. In the Summer Benidorm is the party capital of the Costa Blanca and a place like no other with bars, clubs, entertainment and restaurants galore.

Benidorm offers beautiful beaches and entertainment and attractions for all age groups including the theme parks Terra Mitica, Aqualandia and Mundomar.

Altea is one of the Costa Blanca's most beautiful cities with hills full of whitewashed houses and winding cobbled streets. Altea has retained its beauty and charm and the marina is pretty and scenic and a great place to eat and drink in one of the many nice restaurants and bars.

Calpe is a busy town boasting kilometres of sandy beaches excellent for swimming and surfing. Calpe is famous for its rock the Penon de Ifach which rises from the sea with two fantastic sandy beaches on each side. Wander round the small plazas and narrow streets of Calpe's old town and discover many bars and restaurants.

Denia is a resort full of life with sandy beaches perfect for sunbathing and swimming with numerous bars and restaurant along the coastline. Denia has a large, cosmopolitan port from which you can take a trip over to the Balearic Islands of Majorca and Ibiza.

Javea is a firm favourite with tourists who visit The Costa Blanca. Bustling with activity, Javea has a real Spanish feel. Wander down the ancient narrow streets in the historic old town or eat in one of the fantastic seafood restaurants around the marina.

Villajoyosa maintains a quite atmosphere and is referred to as The Chocolate City due to its chocolate museum and its many chocolate shops. Wander round its narrow ancient street with vibrant coloured houses and eat in one of the many fine seafood restaurants along the sea front.

The resort of Torrevieja also boasts some of the best beaches with a harbour area full of restaurants, tapas bars and shops. Fewer tourists chose to take their holiday in Alicante, but Alicante offers miles of sandy beaches, many historic buildings, a wonderful harbour area and countless sightseeing attractions.

History and Culture

When you think of the Costa Blanca you think of sun, sea and sand but centuries of rich history and culture and interesting places to explore await you.

There are many fiestas and festivals that take place along the Costa Blanca throughout the year and each town has its own celebrations. They all differ but they all portray life, culture, colour, music and dance with a very religious meaning. There are around 200 museums around the Costa Blanca.

The two churches, built in the 15th century, in Calpe are certainly worth a visit. The Iglesia Antigua and the Senora de las Nieves are located in the centre of Calpe. Visit the landmark castle in centre of Denia which dates back to the 16th century and offers spectacular views of the sea and surrounding city.

Alicante is packed full of historic buildings including the well preserved castle, churches and cathedrals.

Activities

The Costa Blanca offers a whole host of water sports including jet-skiing, water-skiing, surfing, snorkelling, sailing and scuba diving. There many magnificent golf courses along the Costa Blanca offering year round golf. For families Terra Mitica theme park, situated just on the outskirts of Benidorm is Spain's largest theme park with rides, shows, restaurants and shops.

Terra Mitica is home to the Tizona, a roller coaster that reaches speeds of 100kmh. Terra Natura, located next to Terra Mitica is a safari park where animals roam free in their natural habitat. Aqualandia is Benidorm's water park and a fun day out for all the family. Visit Benidorm's Mundomar Aquatic Park to see dolphins, penguins and sea lions and exotic tropical birds.
