Formentera (Spain)

Formentera belongs to the Balearic Islands and lies to the South of Ibiza in the Mediterranean sea. You can reach the island by taking a ferry from Ibiza. Formentera rarely has rain, meaning the island is very dry and sunny, an ideal getaway for a summer holiday. The island has a wealth of beaches to explore, meaning Formentera is the perfect holiday destination for sun worshippers. The island is relatively untouched, an ideal holiday haven if you like being left to your own devices to discover beautiful hidden coves. Most of the tourists will be seen around Es Pujols and Es Calo beaches, if you prefer ultimate peace and tranquillity, head to Playa Migjorn and the idyllic Playa Llevant, both beaches boast white sand and stretch out for miles.

Formentera is very small making it is easy to get around. Why not hire a bike and venture off the beaten track. Make sure you visit La Mola which is at the highest point of the island. Here you will be met with a dramatic cliff face and gorgeous views from the lighthouse.

If you choose to venture away from Formentera, make sure you pay a visit to Espalmador, a short ferry ride away, and treat yourself to a mud bath in the lagoon.

Finding accommodation in Formentera won't be a problem, you can choose from rural retreats in the centre of the Island, to large deluxe hotels along the sea front.

Formentera nightlife is relatively low key, there are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from, They all fit in with the tranquillity of the island and remain peaceful and unspoilt. Watching the sun set with a cocktail in a beach front restaurant should be the perfect end to your sun filled day.
