Magaluf is an old hand at the tourist game. As one of the most established resorts in the Med it has been pulling in the holiday punters since the 1960s. As you would expect it has got the mix of beaches, nightlife and holiday activities down to a fine art. Generally you'll find a young singles crowd here looking to party the night away. But you'll also find families and couples who come in search of a lively holiday in the sun.
There are three beaches in total, some less crowded than others. The main beach in Magaluf is outstanding with one mile of fine white sand settled in a crescent shaped bay. The shallow turquoise waters are excellent for families and water sports enthusiasts.
From fast food favourites to Spanish Tapas there's a restaurant to suit every occasion – and budget. Look out for the Menu del Dia (Menu of the Day) at most restaurants for local specialties at cheaper prices. The Pirates Dinner Adventure is great for families as you can eat whilst being entertained by acrobats, dancers and magicians.
There simply are too many bars to count here. You can probably visit a different bar every night of your holiday and still not get through them all. The 18 – 30s crowd will love the hedonistic foam parties in Magaluf's clubs; whilst families can enjoy a much tamer experience with a Spanish live music or cabaret show.
Magaluf offers all the shopping essentials from tatty souvenir shops and discounted electrical goods to efficient supermarkets. For up market boutiques and high street names you'll need to head to Palma, the island's capital. Bargain hunters will enjoy Calvia's weekly market which is held on a Monday.
he main draw in Magaluf is to the beach with its vast array of water sports - everything from scuba diving to banana rides are available. Booze cruises or more genteel family boat trips can be caught from the harbour in nearby Palma Nova. There's plenty for families nearby with two water parks and Marineland with its dolphin and seal shows. The island's capital Palma makes a great excursion. It really will surprise you with its authentic charm, alfresco dining and a chance to splash the cash in designer boutiques.
